it simplifies to this: \[1-\sin ^{2} x/1+ \cot ^{2}x = \cos ^{2}x/ 1+ (\cos ^{2}x/\sin ^{2}x)= \cos ^{2} x/ (\sin ^{2}x + \cos ^{2}x)/ \sin ^{2}x \] which is = \[\cos ^{2} x/ 1 * \sin ^{2}x/1= \cos ^{2} x * \sin ^{2}x\]
