oxidation numbers-list the rules?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

percent by mass how is this calculated?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Types of reactions with examples and predicting products-give examples for each? acid base HCl + NaOH -> NaCl + H2O combustion C10H8 + 12 O2 ---> 10 CO2 + 4 H2O + heat synthesis 8 Fe + S8 ---> 8 FeS simgle displacement Mg + 2 H2O ---> Mg(OH)2 + H2 double dis Pb(NO3)2 + 2 KI ---> PbI2 + 2 KNO3 decomposition 2 H2O ---> 2 H2 + O2

thanks now will u help with my other questions listed pleaseeee

OpenStudy (aaronq):

stoichiometry: problmes differ, but you always work in moles then build ratios using the stoichiometric coefficients to find how many moles, n, will be produced or consumed if, aA -> bB (a and b are stoichiometric coefficients) \[\frac{ n _{A} }{ a }=\frac{ n _{B} }{ b }\]

OpenStudy (aaronq):

oxidation numbers-list the rules? basically follow the groups group 1 is always +1 group 2is always +2 O is always -2, H is always +1 .. form there you can find algebraically the rest by cancelling out the charges (if compounds are neutral)

thanks so much.... acid base properties compare/contrast? ph calcultions how is ph calculated?what elemet is the backbone for orons vs. unsatganic molecule? saturated hydrocarburated hydrocarbons?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

sorry i gotta go to sleep, good luck !
