OpenStudy (anonymous):

How many hydrogens are present on an alkyne with 12 carbons (assume only 1 triple bond)? A.10 B.12 C.14 D.22

OpenStudy (aaronq):

draw it

OpenStudy (abb0t):

The general formula for a saturated hydrocarbon is: \(\large C_nH_{2n+2}\) where "n" represents the number of carbons present. Every double bond (alkene) removes 2 hydrogens, hence, for a double bond it would be: \(\large C_nH_{2n-2}\), now what do you think it would be for a triple bond (alkyne)
