Help!?!?!?!? 11. Consider the graph of the cosine function shown below. a. Find the period and amplitude of the cosine function. b. At what values of θ for 0 ≤ θ ≤ 2pi do the maximum value(s), minimum value(s), and zeros occur?
@lala2 Have you done these yet?
no i haven't!
I need help as well
Ok. You can stay and watch while i try to find someone to help if you want. :)
The period is the "x" distance it takes for the graph to repeat itself. Looking at the grid, it is 2 squares. It takes 4 squares for "pi", so your period is half of that of "pi/2". The amplitude is the maximum distance vertically away from the average value (the x-axis or y=0). So, the amplitude is "2". The maximum is reached where y = 2 and that is x (or theta here) = 0, pi/2, pi, 3pi/2, and 2pi. In other words, every pi/2. The minimum is reached at y = -2 , so at x = pi/4, 3pi/4, 5pi/4, and 7pi/4. Using the grid divisions, you should be able to determine where y=0.
So the period is pi/2 Amplitude is 2 Maximum is 0, pi/2, pi, 3pi/2, and 2pi. Minimum is pi/4, 3pi/4, 5pi/4, and 7pi/4?
Yes.
Awesome! Thanks! Sorry for repeating what you said. Just wanted to make sure i understood.
np and uw!
