which of these elements would be assigned the highest electronegativity value? a.Br b.Si c.K d.Ba

thomaster (thomaster):

electronegativity: Br= 2.96 Si= 1.90 K = 0.82 Ba= 0.89 So A is correct. You can check electronegativity at http://www.ptable.com and go to tab properties and select electronegativity (5th option)

OpenStudy (abb0t):

The one closest to fluorine. as fluroine has been shown to have the highest electronegativity at approximately 4.0-4.1

thomaster (thomaster):

@abb0t how do you explain Gold having a higher electronegativity than Sillicon? Sillicon is way closer to fluorine :P
