Explain why a candle has a higher temperature but less heat energy than a bowl of warm washing-up water.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See water has a very high heat capacity...which means that,,to even raise the temp. of water by a few degrees,,large amt. of heat has to be supplied, than many other substances, to reach the same temp. so we can say that water at say 50 deg has more 'heat energy' than a candle has or would supply at a more higher temp.. or simply you can understand it in this way that supose you put a candle at say 120 deg,,below a utensil containing water and assume full "heat" tranfer than the end result could be that the water after the whole candle has melted might reach jus 110 deg(due to water's high heat capacity)..so water has though in this case the same heat energy but a lower temp..your ques follows this exapmle..hope you get it..:)
