just a quick question!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in triangle ABC , angle B is a right angle. AB+30 and Sec A=5/3. find each value in fraction and decimal form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sin A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

someone??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sin a =4/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok but how did you get that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1369794012893:dw| here sec a=hyppoteneus/adjacent so hp=5 and adj=3 so opposite side =4 by pythagorus thm so sin a=opposite/hypp=4/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its sin A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isnt sin opposite/ hypotenuse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no sinA=opposite/hyp

OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

you said sec A=5/3 so the sec=hyp/adj. the hyp=5 and the side adjacent to angle A would be adjacent. Through pythagorean theorem you can find the other value because it is a right triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in the pathagorema theorem what values go with what is a=5 and c=3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@chrisplusian @aditya96

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b=4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know that but i need to show work so what goes where

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does a=3 c=5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(hypo)^2=(side 1)^2 +(side 2)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@chrisplusian can you help me with one more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

csc C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sam thing but with these values

OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

The trick with pythagorean theorem is that the "c" is always the hypotenuse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh

OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

Csc=Hyp/opp so the opposite side from angle C is =3 and the hypotenuse is =5. so csc C =5/3

OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

Hope that helps @lala2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it does alot! thanks soo much!

OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

no problem I have to do some studying now so good luck

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks again!
