No, we gotta factorize it, \[\frac{x^2-5x+6}{x^2-9}= \frac{(x-2)(x-3)}{(x-3)(x+3)}=\frac{(x-2)\cancel{(x-3)}}{\cancel{(x-3)}(x+3)}=\frac{x-2}{x+3}\]
