The following is an example of what type of chemical reaction? CH4 (g) + 2O2 (g) CO2 (g) + 2H2O (g) Select one: a. Single replacement b. Decomposition c. Double replacement d. Combustion
Is there an = sign or ---> after the 2O2>
If so, it is a combustion reaction because the products are CO2 and water
Yes, there is a sign after the 2O2 sorry!! :O
Its ok!
I think the equation is : \(CH_4 (g) + 2O_2 (g) \rightarrow CO_2 (g) + 2H_2 O (g) \) Steven , as already mentioned by mikebmxer , you have to notice the products and identify the type of reaction with the help of them.
As the products are \(CO_2\) and \(H_2 O\) , it can be said that it is combustion reaction. You can also note the \(O_2\) there in the reactants side which means the reaction was carried on in the presence of oxygen . And oxygen is necessary for combustion. So it is combustion reaction.
Ok that makes much more sense! :) I have another question for you, but let me try and figure it out first before I contact you. Thank you both for your fabulous help!
=)
Good attitude stevensde.
The following is an example of which type of chemical reaction? Na (s) + H2O (l) ---> NaOH (aq) + H2 (g) Alright, I'm feeding off of a hunch here. Is this a single replacement reaction?
Thank you Thoughts!
Yep you would be correct in calling this a single replacement
Sweet! hahaha :D Once again, thank you!
Anytime!
