x2-7x+9yi= y2i+20i-12 find x and y

OpenStudy (experimentx):

compare the real and imaginary parts on both sides and solve the 2x2 system

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Building up on that, let's just single out the real and imaginary parts... \[\Large \color{red}{x^2-7x}\color{blue}{+9y}\color{green}i=\color{blue}{(y^2+20)}\color{green}i\color{red}{-12}\]

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

So, the real parts (red) must be equal, as must the imaginary (blue) parts. Like so: \[\Large \color{red}{x^2-7x}=\color{red}{-12}\]\[\Large \color{blue}{9y}=\color{blue}{y^2+20}\] Just solve these two quadratic equations (factoring seems to work) and you'll get yourself two solutions apiece for both x and y. Enjoy :)

plzz tell me i donot know how to do

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

I'm not good at teaching how to factor... better outsource that :P

OpenStudy (experimentx):

you sure put lot of effort latex
