What is the relationship between dipole moment and boiling point?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Dipole is referring to intermolecular forces. Hence, if you have a strong dipole with an element that has a high electronegativity, say for instance HF, it would require more energy to break the bond together. Since the electronagativity is high, that means the bonds are also held together more strongly. Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

To avoid confusion, electronegativity is defined as the tendency of an atom or radical to attract electrons in the formation of an ionic bond.
