A small software company has two customer service representatives. After a week of oberservation, the supervisor of the customer service department determines that there is a 61% probability that a customer service representative will be on the phone with a customer at any given time. What is the probability of both representatives being on the phone at the same time? Round to the nearest percent if necessary. A. 15% B. 82% C. 25% D. 37%
You need to do [probability of one] * [probability of the other] or .61 * .61.
Since they're independent events (the presence of one rep on the phone doesn't affect the other) You just multiply their probabilities.
So 61 x the 2 reps?
No.... 61% times 61% or 0.61 x 0.61
I got 0.3721.
yup. Just round that off, and you're good to go :D
Ahh, I see what to do now. So 37%
That's it :D Nicely done ~
