The system shown in the figure at the right consists of a light, inextensible cord, light frictionless pulleys and blocks of equal mass. Initially the blocks are at rest and at the same height above the ground. The blocks are then released. Find the speed of block A at the moment when the vertical separation of the blocks is h. Note: inextensible means that it cannot be stretched.

is their any measurements given?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mgh=1/2(mv^2) v=sqrt(2gh)

OpenStudy (rane):

bt the height is not given

OpenStudy (anonymous):

vertical distance is given

OpenStudy (rane):

wht is it?

OpenStudy (rane):

wht is the vertical distance?

@Ell

OpenStudy (ell):

Wouldn't you use the formula for acceleration?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, the problem is that it is complicated, because of the second block

OpenStudy (ell):

A= V2 - V1/ t 1/2= 2/t Solve for t ....sorry if this isnt right, this problem is kind of confusing me....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

anyway, thx
