The population, P, of China, in billions, can be approximated by the function P=1.267(1.007)^t, where t is the number of years since the start of 2000. Give your answers in millions of people per year. (Note: Use h=0.01 in your calculations. Round your decimal answers to two decimal places.) Beginning of 2000 - ______ million people per year Beginning of 2005 - ______ million people per year
I know that the difference quotient needs to be used to solve the problem, but whenever I submit the answer I get into my online homework it marks it as wrong.
are you using this \[\frac{f(x+h) -f(x)}{h}\]
anyway \[rate = \frac{1.267(1.007)^{t+.01} - 1.267(1.007)^{t}}{.01}\] plug in t=0 for 2000 t = 5 for 2005
I see 0.008838 for t=0.
Which would be 8.84 million for 2000.
Thank you!
