hi there! can anyone help me with this? :) Arrange the following elements in order of increasing atomic size, and explain how you know the order: Ca, Rb, S, Si, Ge, F. Do not simply state the trends but rather explain why the trend exists
can you tell me in which row these elements come in periodic table example Ca-4 th row like that can you write for all
F-2nd row S-3rd row Si-3rd row Ca-4th row Ge-4th row Rb-5th row
ok good:)
remember in the same row as we move from left to right the atomic radius decreases and as we go down the same group the atomic radius increases
now Flourine is present in the 2nd row and it is at the extreme right side hence otut of all its is the smallest right
now let us move to 3rd row where these elements are bigger than the 2nd row elements. in 3 rd row we have two elements that is S and Si as i told in the same row as u go from left to right atomic size decreses and in 3 rd row as u go from left to right you get first Si and later u get sulfur therefore Si is bigger than the S now u got this order F<S<Si are u getting it ???
I think so
good:) now in 4 hr row Ca comes first then the Ge hence Ca is bigger than the Ge now u have order F<S<Si<Ge<Ca
and last one u write as Rb F<S<Si<Ge<Ca <Rb
theoretical atomic size are as given below F=0.42 S=0.88 Si=1.11 Ge=1.25 Ca=1.94 Rb=2.65 so our Predication and the method is right did u get it or nooo:)
yes, thank you.....
you are welcome :)
