calculus maximum an minimum

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats your point ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use the second derivation test to find the relative max and min of the function F(x) =2X^3 + 3X^2-12X-7

OpenStudy (john_es):

Find the candidates, \[F'(x)=6x^2+6x-12=0\Rightarrow x=-2, x=1 \] Then the second derivative test, \[F''(x)=12x+6\Rightarrow F''(-2)=-18, F''(1)=18\] So x=-2, is a maximum, and x=1 is a minimum.
