What is the speed of sound in dry air at 0°C? a.316 meters/second b.331 meters/second c.346 meter/second d.373 meters/second
do you know the formula to figure this out?
i just googled it it's c = (331.3 + .0606T) where c is the speed of sound, and T is the temperature
know how to go from here? it's only about 1 more step and you get the answer ;)
that should be .606 not .0606 c = (331.3 + .606T) better
haha not really, this is confusing to me
oh thank you!
alright well, the formula is c = (331.3 + .0606T) you want to find c (the speed of sound) you know T, as it was given basically just plug in T
man i copied and pasted it wrong again c = (331.3 + .606T) fixed, again lol
oh okay, can you help me with a few more problems please?
ask away
What is the speed of sound at a temperature of 56°C? a.316 meter/second b.331 meters/second c.365 meters/second d.373 meters/second
same thing as before just plug in T = 56
by the way, what was your answer for the first problem?
i don't get it, like how would you set it up?
alright, i googled the equation, and this is what I got c = (331.3 + .606T) this equation will tell you what the speed of sound is in dry air
the equation depends on T, the temperature. This is what is being given to you in these problems. All you need to do is plug in the value for the temperature it gives you. For instance, in the first problem where the temperature was 0 degrees: c = (331.3 + .606T) c = (331.3 + .606(0)) c = 331.3 + 0 c = 331.3 therefore, the answer to the first question was B, 331
so it would be d?
nope, not D
try again :)
i got 331.3 which would be B correct?
yup, for the 1st problem what about the 2nd problem?
lemme see :)
