Using complete sentences, explain how to find the zeros of the function f(x) = 2x3 – 9x + 3
u can use synthetic division. as far as my concern that is much easier
so f(x) is zero when x = 3/2 or 1
robz8 it is cubic!
How would you do it with synthetic?
Yes, it is cubic that is one of the major problems with solving it.
It's a messy problem
for example: –2x^5 + 6x^4 + 10x^3 – 6x^2 – 9^x + 4.
this is a depressed qubic(there is no x^2 term) and is not that bad, use Ferro method.
The Ferro method?
Italian mathematician
I believe someone suggested synthetic is it possible? If so how?
you need to guess a solution first with synthetic
sometimes that easy, sometimes that's not
you can skip the first part because there is no x^2 part, after that its just a buch of change in variables....not bad
Very interesting, but is it possible for synthetic?
this will work for x^4... as well
if you know a solution say a then divide by (x-a)
but you must know a solution
there are other way depending of the coefficients where you can expand do some "tricks" but as far as a general method, ^^^^^^^ that one is the best and will work all the time.
or u can break it up
