How many electrons in an atom can share the quantum numbers n=2, l=1 and ml=1? 8 6 4 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

n=2, l = 1 i.e. a p orbital. which is three fold degenerate. i.e. a p orbital has 3 degenerate orbitals. ml = 1 means one orbital out of those three orbitals. and a single orbital can contain 2 electrons. so, the answer is D
