a skaterboarder is moving 5.25 m/s when he starts to roll up a frictionless hill. how much higher is he when he comes to a stop? (energy problem)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is basic energy problem. equate kinetic energy to potential energy. \[v ^{2}/2\] =\[g*h\] solving you get h =1.4048m

thank you so much!!!!!

@jenniem29 happy that it helped :)

a diver is on a board 1.80m above the water. she jumps straight up at 3.62 m/s. what is her maximum height above the water?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is similar to the previous one, the only differenc is that you have to add 1.80 to the final answer. then final answer will be 1.8 + \[3.62^{2}\div(2*9.81)\] = 2.46

is right!! thank soooo much!!!!! :)
