Isn't a confidence level of 90%, 2 std deviations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (espex):

I was thinking 95.5%, the C.I. was how you found your column on the 't' or 'z' table.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what? where did you get 95.5% from?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

The formula needed is \[(\bar {x _{1}}-\bar {x _{2}})-1.645\sqrt{\frac{\sigma _{1}^{2}}{n _{1}}+\frac{\sigma _{2}^{2}}{n _{2}}}<\mu _{1}-\mu _{2}<\ ...............\] The expression to the right of the difference in the means is the same as the expression to the left except there is an addition sign before 1.645.
