Graph g(x)=4^x-2. Give domain and range.
Can someone explain how to do this? I especially have trouble graphing the equation and finding range.
Is your problem: \[\huge 4^{x-2}\] or \[\huge 4^{x}-2\]
equation*
The first one.
Well first, let's say if x was a really really really big number, what would y be? In this case, y=g(x).
Would it be a really really really big number as well, OR would it be a really really really small number?
It'd be both, right?
Umm, I'm not trying to trick you or anything, it's a straight forward question. It's like a yes or no question, you can't say maybe...
@tracyy are you there???
Yes, sorry.
Then could you please answer my question?
Since you'e finding it had to visualise what my quesiton is. Let's make x=9999999. THat's a really big number right? SO: \[g(x)=4^{9999999-2}\] Would g(x) be a very big number?
it hard*
Yes, it would.
Good, now you know that the curve would go upwards on the RHS of the graph like so: |dw:1371866627588:dw|
