Hi,friends, please calculate the volume of SO2 at STP obtained by burning 500gm of S containing 4% weight by sand.

OpenStudy (missmob):

Amount of sand in 500 g S = Amount of S = 500 – 20 = 480 g Now, 32 g S gives 48 g sulphur dioxide So, 480 g S will give sulphur dioxide Now, 48 g (1 mole) of sulphur dioxide at STP has a volume of 22.4 L Therefore, 720 g ( 15 moles) of sulphur dioxide at STP has a volume of 15 x 22.4 = 336 L
