find area of shaded bit then area of whole then proportion of one to the other

find area of shaded bit = 9 x 9 x 0.5 then area of whole = 18 x 18 then proportion of one to the other = top answer / bottom answer

I still didnt get the right answer.. i got 8.

it worked out to be 40.5 or so over 324

yeah i got the 40.5 part.. and the 324 but it still gave me 8 for some reason. :/ i think i need a new calculator.
