do you know what an atom is composed of?
a nucleus, which has 8 protons and 8 nuetrons , the inner energy level has 2 electrons, and the outter energy level has 6 electrons righttt?????
only 1 atom has 8 protons an atom is composed of a number of PROTONS (which defines it's identity, for example Hydrogen ALWAYS has 1 proton, oxygen ALWAYS has 8 protons), NEUTRONS (this is how isotopes are defined, Carbon always 6 protons but Carbon-13 has 13 neutrons and Carbon-12 has 12 neutrons), and ELECTRONS. The chemical properties of elements arise from the combinations of protons and electrons.

well i clearly nderstand the information your giving me but idont undrstand how it links up to my question its kinda weird
okay, the first question reads: "The names of the isotopes are given by the name of the ____ and the ______ of the isotope." i wrote earlier: "names of isotopes? like "Carbon-13"" so the answer is "element" and "neutrons"
The second should be protons for both, although it's technically incorrect, because protons do not dictate, solely, the chemical properties of atoms.

because electrons have a lot do with it, they dictate the reactivity of atoms. The reason why you can't write "electrons" as answer is because it's talking about isotopes having always the same amount of ____ (which can only be "protons"). Isotopes don't necessarily have the same number of electrons.
