OpenStudy (anonymous):

this statement is true right The difference between osmosis and diffusion is that osmosis is the spreading of water from a high to low concentration while diffusion is the spreading of molecules or particles from a high to low concentration.

thomaster (thomaster):

Did you write that down correctly? your statements says that both osmosis and diffusion are spreading of particles from a high to low concentration...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would that make it false

thomaster (thomaster):

Then the statement is false In osmosis, water will go from a low to a high concentration to fix the concentration difference. diffusion is the spreading of particles from a high to low concentration.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

osmosis and diffusion is same the differencce is that diffusion is specific for water and salt solutions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks guys

thomaster (thomaster):

@asmagul not correct. in osmosis the water will go to the side of the semi permeable wall which has the highest salt concentration. So it goes from low to high.. diffusion goes from high to low concentration

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thomaster u r going wrong from low to high is active transport

thomaster (thomaster):

depends on how you see it. the water concentration of the salt concentration

OpenStudy (anonymous):

may be i cant explain clearly but osmosis and diffusion is transport of molecules from high to low

thomaster (thomaster):

when you take the water concentration, then it goes from high water concentration to low water concentration. but if you take the salt concentration, the water will go from the low to high salt concentration.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im taking the dilute soln

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the dilute soln?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now u r going to isotonic, hypotonic and hypertonic pressures

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k bye

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u r right but the answer of question is what im saying
