OpenStudy (anonymous):

during beta decay why electron is emitted from nucleus.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since nucleus is composed of only protons and neutrons how an electron takes birth in nucleus during decay processes.

OpenStudy (souvik):

in the case of beta decay..a neutron is transferred to an electron and a proton and an anti neutrino...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

neutron is charge less and electron is a charged quantity. but how can an neutron transfer into electron. I mean a charge less quantity in to charged one.

OpenStudy (souvik):

a neutron has no charge..and electron and proton have same charge in magnitude but different signs... neutron(no charge)\(\rightarrow \) proton(+ve charge)+electron(-ve charge) so charge is balanced in both sides...

OpenStudy (souvik):

thats why after a beta emission the number of proton in radioactive atom is increased by one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Artificially can we combine proton and electron to make neutron ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

some times during radio ionization a proton absorbs electron and transforms in to neutron. can we cause this type of effect artificially.

OpenStudy (souvik):

sorry i have no clue about it....
