HELP!! {Find the surface area of the cone.}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I keep getting it wrong! Help D:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know about SA = πr2 + πrl

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i keep getting my answer wrong. its completely off.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

curved surface=pi r l base= pi r^2 l^2=14^2+8^2=196+64=260 \[l=\sqrt{260}\] \[S.A=\pi r ^{2}+\pi r l=\pi r \left( r+l \right)=\frac{ 22 }{7 }\times8 \left( 8+\sqrt{260}\right)\] \[=\frac{ 176 }{ 7 }\left( 8+\sqrt{4*65} \right)\] \[=\frac{ 176 }{ 7}\left( 8+2\sqrt{65} \right)=\frac{ 352 }{ 7 }\left( 4+\sqrt{65} \right)\] solve and get the required answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve 4 + 65 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@surjithayer i couldnt get an answer with your problem. i think somethings off.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@surjithayer HELLO??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 5040 and thats wrong. @surjithayer

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

If you're getting 5040 the fault is yours. \[\frac{352}{7}(4+\sqrt{65}) = \frac{352}{7}*(4+8.062) = \frac{352}{7}*12.062 = \]

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Hint: 350/7 = 50, so your answer should be around 600.
