OpenStudy (rane):

2HN3 + H2SO4 ===> (NH4)2SO4 What mass of H2SO4 is needed to form 1.00 tonne (1000kg) of (NH4)2SO4?

OpenStudy (rane):

(NH4)2SO4 = 7575.8 moles H2SO4 = 7575.8 moles

OpenStudy (rane):

@chmvijay

OpenStudy (rane):

|dw:1373602469126:dw|

OpenStudy (rane):

oh! (NH4)2SO4 = 132 , H2SO4 = 98

OpenStudy (rane):

u didnt convert kg to g

OpenStudy (rane):

arent u suppose to use the mass of (NH4)2SO4 and it is molecular weight, not using the mass of (NH4)2SO4 with the molecular mass of H2SO4

OpenStudy (rane):

and the mass of (NH4)2 SO4 is given = 1000,000g

OpenStudy (rane):

my q' is y are u using the mass of (NH4)2SO4 with the molecular weight of H2SO4

OpenStudy (rane):

|dw:1373603797435:dw|

OpenStudy (rane):

is this how this can be done

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have the molar masses of H2SO4 and (NH4)2SO4

OpenStudy (rane):

yeah its stated above

OpenStudy (anonymous):

98 for H2SO4 and 132 for (NH4)2SO4 this means, 98 grams of H2SO4 is needed to form 132 gram of (NH4)2SO4 ok with this?

OpenStudy (rane):

ahan

OpenStudy (rane):

so my working out is not correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can do this question by firstly calculating the number of moles and then converting into mass but i think this is straightforward way to solve the question/. the above method is also correct, you can proceed that way too

OpenStudy (rane):

oh k thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wlcome now you can do the ques. i guess easily

OpenStudy (rane):

yup

OpenStudy (rane):

i just wanted to make sure if m doing the right way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gd then.
