OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do elements in the first two columns of the periodic table have in common? They have two valence electrons. They tend to lose electrons to gain stability. They react strongly with the alkali metals. They do not react with halogens.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I put the first one because I know that's a way to order them. Am I right?

thomaster (thomaster):

The first one is not correct because group 1 elements have 1 valence electron and group 2 elements have 2 valance electrons.
