You would have the same slope, which is "m = 3". Also, you would use the point-slope form for the equation of a line:\[y - y _{1} = m(x - x _{1})\]where you have been given the point:\[(x _{1}, y _{1})\]Make the substitutions for "m" and the given point. Then put the equation into slope-intercept form. Write that out here now.

You can do it that way IF . . . you are given choices. That's a good way to do this problem if you a taking a test and time and speed count. But if you were given no choices and had to figure it out, then you have to use the above systematic approach.

If you may excuse me and I mean no disrespect but a much easier way is just to know that if a line is parallel then the slope is the same and if it is perpendicular then it is the negative reciprocal. Then you just impute the values of x and y in the equation and find the equation that grants the question true.
