i know it would turn to x+2=x-4 but idk what to do next
OpenStudy (anonymous):
is this sqrt sign applicable to all terms?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
only to the parenthesis like \[\sqrt{x+2}+4=x\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh..okay
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so after x+2=x-4 what do i need to do?

how did you got x+2=x-4?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i squared the one side and honestly i dont know how i came up with the x-4 i guess i just moved the 4 to the other side and changed signs
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no no no...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I have the answer will you listen?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):
you got root(x+2)=x-4
hartnn (hartnn):
you mean \(\sqrt{x+2} = x-4 \)
now square both sides.
and for, \((x-4)^2\)
use the formula \((a-b)^2=a^2-2ab+b^2\)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok
OpenStudy (anonymous):
isnt it?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yeah i was agreeing

square both sides
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x+2=x-4^2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x+2=x^2-8x+16
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
how did you get that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
(a-b)^2=a^2-2ab+b^2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thats confusing
OpenStudy (anonymous):
that is the expansion of (a-b)^2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ooh ok i got it now after looking at it for a bit
OpenStudy (anonymous):
(x-4)^x^2-(2*x*4)+4^2

k..
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yeah
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x+2 to the RHS
OpenStudy (anonymous):
RHS?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
right side?

0=\[x^2-8x+16-x-2\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Right Hand Side=RHS
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ive never seen any one abbreviate that before

0=\[x^2-9x+14\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok
OpenStudy (anonymous):
now do you know how to factorize?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
can you give me an example? im not sure
OpenStudy (anonymous):
or the formula for qudriatic equations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok i will give an example of factorizing..
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x^2+3x+2 can be factorized as (x+1)(x+3)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yeah x=\[x=\frac{ -b \pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac} }{ 2a }\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
cool...use it now
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you need to understand how to factorize for doing this faster

got the answer?7 or 2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i got 7
OpenStudy (anonymous):
or 2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
its plus or minus
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yeah i got that sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):
you need to know hw to factorize..I will show you how this should be done here
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok
OpenStudy (anonymous):
here you have x^2-9x+14
OpenStudy (anonymous):
which two numbers give 14 when multiplied and gives (-9) when added?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-7 and +2

OpenStudy (anonymous):
-7 and -2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh right
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so the factorized form is (x-7)*(x-2)=0
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so for this to be zero either x=7 or x=2..
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you got it?

thank you i actually knew that i just forgot over summer
OpenStudy (anonymous):
hahaha..Happens to me often..I get blank after summer:)
