When aluminum, Al, metal is dipped in an aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid, HCl, hydrogen gas, H2, is produced with the formation of an aluminum chloride, AlCl3, solution. Write the balanced chemical equation showing the phases of reactants and products. how would you write out the balanced formula? Thanks!

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Solid Aluminium metal + Aqueous hydrogen chloride -> aqueous aluminium chloride + dihydrogen gas Just like that, but instead you write the chemical formulas using the symbols assigned and you write the phases at the end of each one in parentheses. e.g. 'Liquid dihydrogen monoxide' is 'H2O (l)'
