Guys i recently started on the topic on transition metals and i am confused... Is Copper(ii) hydroxide and Iron(ii) hydroxide complex ions??? they have OH- bonded to a transition metal... if it is so then copper (ii) hydroxide and Iron (ii) hydroxide are covalent compounds??

OpenStudy (frostbite):

No they are not covalent bonds, they are ligands with electrons "coordinating" to the central metal, for an example: |dw:1374658995898:dw| About they are ions: no, in nomenclature we don't consider them ions, as we can have a positive or negative charge of the overall system.
