Tom, Ed, and Harry started out on a 100-mile journey. Tom and Harry went by automobile at a speed of 25 mph, while Ed jogged along at 5 mph. After a certain distance, Harry got out of the car and continued on jogging at 5 mph while Tom turned the automobile around and went back for Ed. Tom and Ed arrived by automobile at the journey's destination at exactly the same time that Harry arrived. How many hours were required to complete the 100 mile trip?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK, we know the trip was 100 miles, now let's check how each managed to go that distance. We know Tom went all the way by car and was going at 25 mi/hour, harry rode the car for a while and then jogged at 5 mi/hr and Ed jogged until Tom picked him up. and the problem wants us to figure out how many hours took to complete the 100 miles trip. we know that Tom and Ed arrived at the same time that harry arrived now, total time for Henry = total time for Ed Henry went by car and jogging so then...... Have to leave early will continue tomorrow!
