All the elements in a particular group of the periodic table have the same number of A. electrons. B. energy levels. C. valence electrons. D. protons. i thought the answer was A. electrons and i was wrong now im thinking its C.? PLEASE HELP??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The atomic number of elements increase down the group, so the total number of electrons increase as well. Thus, all have different no. of electrons. However,the no. of electrons in the outer most shell i.e the valance electrons are the same. The elements in a group have similar oxidation states and that is why similar chemical properties.

@physicsme so protons

Like @physicsme said. The number of electrons in the outer shell are the same in a group of the periodic table. These electrons in the outer shell are called valence electrons. Also this is not a biology question, should have been posted in chemistry.
