Cellular respiration is the process in which the chemical bonds of energy-rich molecules such as glucose are converted into energy usable for life processes. Oxidation of organic material—in a bonfire, for example—is an exothermic reaction that releases a large amount of energy rather quickly. The equation for the oxidation of glucose is: C6H12O6 + 6O2 → 6CO2 + 6H2O + Energy released (2830 kJ mol−1) Photosynthesis (photo=light, synthesis=putting together), generally, is the synthesis of sugar from light, carbon dioxide and water, with oxygen as a waste product. It is arguably the most important biochemical pathway known; nearly all life depends on it. It is an extremely complex process, comprised of many coordinated biochemical reactions. It occurs in higher plants, algae, some bacteria, and some protists, organisms collectively referred to as photoautotrophs. Ryaan is completely correct but if you didn't see right away, the two processes are opposites. The reactants in one are the products in the other and vice versa. It shows the adaptability in nature because both processes fuel one another.
