(Newton's Law of Motion) A parachutist whose total mass is 100 kg is falling at 50 m/s when her parachute opens. Her speed drops to 7m/s in a vertical distance of 40 m. What total force did her harness have to withstand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find acceleration using v^2 - u^2 = 2ax , and then F = ma

OpenStudy (kainui):

Not sure if this approach works, I think that last v is really not getting us anywhere haha. \[F=\frac{ dp }{ dt }=m\frac{ dv }{ dt }=m\frac{ dv }{ dx }\frac{ dx }{ dt }=m\frac{ v_f-v_i}{ \Delta x }v\]
