These problems can sometimes be confusing, but just take it one step at a time and just like Microbot said, follow pemdas

B-bracket
O-order, square roots and powers
D-division
M-multiplication
A-addition
S-subtraction
2[4(9-7)+1]
first we will solve brackets according to rule
=2[4(2)+1]
=2[8+1]
=16+2
now we use addition
16+2=18
