You don't. Where they cross IS the common point. SO you can't have them cross and have no common points at the same time.

My ONLY guess at this would be something like: |dw:1377051111325:dw| But I somehow doubt thats what it means xDD I'd just mark it off and ask. Unless there was something in your notes or lecture that would mention what your instructor could possibly mean, I would just flat out say impossible.

Yeah, its so weird - I dont get it at all... could be that's it...but it seems like a simple assignment, so its weird it would be something complicated...

Label the axes of grid in the question with x and y values. Then choose a point, for example (3,4) and draw a small circle 'hole' centred on the point. Draw two lines that would cross at the centre of the hole but terminate the lines at the circumference. What you have drawn shows that the values of the two functions defining the lines are undefined at the point (3, 4).
