Ah. Okay. So to type in the first form into my calculator, I do (tan(x))^2, correct?

you're welcome
No. tan^2(x) is (tan x)^2. tan (x^2) is completely different. For example, take x = 5 radians. tan^2(5) = 11.43, while tan (5^2) = tan(25) = -0.1335.
All right, thanks again, guys! ^.^
