So it looks like that gives us,\[\Large 0.5\times10^{-11}\]Right? And from there, we would want to move the decimal one place to the right so our leading value is between 1 and 10.
I hope you understand the last step. To move the decimal one place to the right, we'll have to steal a power from the 10. So the exponent will become more negative.\[\Large 5\times10^{-12}\]
