is vapor pressure related to boiling point

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Yes. vapor pressure is inversely proportional to boiling point! What that means is that as one increase the other decreases, and vice versa. just so you know, vapour pressure is the pressure at the surface of the liquid that allows molecules to move around and escape into the atmosphere. For instance, you may have noticed that water evaporates, at room temp. Well, this is because molecules at the surface have enough energy to escape, it just takes much longer than boiling. If some liquid has a high vapor pressure, then it evaporates more than something that has a low vapor pressure.

OpenStudy (jmark):

The vapor pressure is related to boiling point because the boiling point of the temperature in which the vapor pressure of a liquid becomes equal to atmospheric pressure. Check out for more information and Vapor Pressure Formula at http://goo.gl/38ebNU
