give reason why is water liquid at room temperature?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

The polarity of the H-O bond due to the great difference between the electronegativity of Oxygen and that of Hydrogen is what causes the diploar moment of the water molecule and the hydrogen bonding that keeps water molecules from separating from each other easily. WELCOME TO OPEN STUDY

Hey, you in CBSE 9th too?

Parth (parthkohli):

If you're in 9th as I am, you can't use that answer.

Parth (parthkohli):

My textbook has an erronous explanation, but it says how water is able to flow and it has no fixed shape.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

You should mention that the kinetic energy of the water molecules at room temperature is insufficient to dissociate the intermolecular forces between the molecules (although some do evaporate because the gaussian distribution of energy), and explain what causes the H-bonds with what @chmvijay said.
