1/(x+1) - 2/(2x-1) Simplify

OpenStudy (anonymous):

common denominators!! ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[{1\over(x+1)}-{2\over(2x-1)}\] \[{1(2x-1)-2(x+1)\over(x+1)(2x-1)}\] \[2x-1-2x-1\over2x^2+x-1\] \[={-2\over2x^2+x-1}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wouldn't it be -2 for the 2nd part where you distribute the -2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the result would be -3/(x+1)(2x-1)
