explain why it is possible to have several different isotopes of the same element

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i really need help

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

isotopes have same number of protons but diffrent number of neutrons. thus the atomic no remains the same but mass number differs. i am not able to find the reason why. but i can give you uses of isotopes. the ratio of isotope of carbon determines the age of aa particular biological sample.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

and i think as neutron does not have any charge the identitiy of the element remains the same. because the reactivity of that element remains same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you I just needed an answer

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

ur welcum:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):
