are you solving for x
yes
well then, add x^2 to both sides and what do you get?
x^4
not hardly, (15/2)*x^2 + x^2 = (15/2+1)*x^2 you just add the numbers in front of the x^2

so (15/2 + 1) = 15/2+2/2 = 17/2 so now the equation is 17/2*x^2 = 15/5
give me a sec checking
ok take your time
sorry trying to help a friend out with this she didnt have an account here
so is there a step after that?

yes so from there you can say 17/2*x^2 = 3 (which was 15/5) so divide both sides by (17/2) and get x^2 = 3/(17/2) which is the same as x^2 = 3*(2/17) which is x^2 = 6/17 then just take the square root of both sides to find x
thank you she got it
awesome. :)
