Calculate the mass of iron metal (in grams) that can be prepared from 150 grams of aluminum and 250 grams of iron(III) oxide.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now atomic mass of iron oxide (Fe2O3) is 160 the balanced equation is Fe2O3+2Al->Al2O3+2Fe so if you see the above equation 1 molecule of Fe2O3 produces 2Fe i.e. they are in the ratio of 1:2 Now convert Fe2O3 mass given in grams to moles by dividing 250 from 160 = 250/160 you will get moles of Fe2O3. Now multiply this by 2 & further by atomic mass of iron. (250/160)*2*56=answer
