Hey, can I please have some help answering this? A mixture of 2 moles of calcium metal and 100 g of oxygen is placed in a container and heated till the calcium burns to form calcium oxide. Determine whether there is sufficient oxygen to burn all the calcium

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2Ca + O2 => 2CaO n(Ca) = 2 moles, so required oxygen to burn Calcium is 4 moles n(O2) = 100g / 32g/mol = 3.125 moles of O2 so it's not enough...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did that with my teacher and from memory it was enough...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry..)) required oxygen to burn calcium is 1 mole not 4 moles.. I made a mistake..i did see coefficients in wrong way....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah okay then, thanks for the help :)
