A three-carbon alkene contains two double bonds. Predict its molecular formula? A. C3H4 B. C3H5 C. C3H6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Carbons want to have 4 bonds attached to them. H's want to have one bond attached to them. So the structure of the alkene you are describing would be something like this: H2C=C=CH2. So the center carbon would be connected to the two other carbons by a double bond. Then the end carbons would each have 2 H's attached to them by single bonds. So your answer is: A. C3H4
